The Italian health ministry and foreign ministry have issued new Covid-19 restrictions regarding entry to Italy, which go into effect starting December 16, 2021 and are in place until January 31, 2022:
- Non-vaccinated travelers from non-EU countries will have to quarantine for five or 10 days, depending on the country (unless a valid Covid recovery certificate exempts you from quarantine; check specific restrictions for your country here.) To enter Italy they must present a negative result from an antigen test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival, or a negative result from a PCR test performed 48 hours prior to arrival. They must also have a negative antigen test result at the end of the quarantine period.
ย - Vaccinated travelers from non-EU countries must show, in addition to proof of vaccination, a negative result from an antigen test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival, or a negative result from a PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to arrival (48 hours for UK and Northern Ireland).
ย - Non-vaccinated travelers from EU member countries (who do not have the EU Digital Covid Certificate obtained through recovery) will have to quarantine for five days. They must present a negative antigen test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival or a negative result from a PCR test performed within 48 hours prior to arrival. They must also have a negative antigen test result at the end of the five-day quarantine period.
ย - Vaccinated travelers from EU countries must show, in addition to proof of vaccination, a negative result from an antigen test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival, or a negative result from a PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to arrival.
ย - The super green pass regulations have been extended from January 15, 2022 to March 31, 2022.
ย - The government's state of emergency decree has been extended until March 31, 2022.
