The Italian cabinet met on Wednesday, February 2, and issued new directives regarding domestic super green pass requirements :
- Vaccination certificate validity is extended indefinitely for those who have completed a booster dose or recovered from Covid after completing their initial vaccination cycle. This extension includes foreign visitors. (Article 1)
- Eligible foreign visitors whose initial vaccination cycle (without booster) certificate or recovery certificate (without completion of initial vaccination cycle before infection) is six to nine months old must show a negative result on a Covid test in order to have a super green pass in Italy (validity 48 hours with a rapid antigen test or 72 hours with a PCR test). This also applies to people who were vaccinated with vaccines that aren't authorized or recognized as equivalents in Italy. (Article 3)
- Restrictions in red zone regions no longer apply to those with a super green pass. (Article 4)

These measures go into effect February 5, 2022.
NB For entering Italy, completion of the initial vaccination cycle must be no more than 270 days ago. See this post for more information. (For people with a booster dose, the vaccination certificate has no expiration date for entry purposes).
More information for those with recovery only or without a booster dose

I viaggiatori stranieri che hanno completato il ciclo vaccinale primario da oltre 6 mesi o sono guariti dal COVID da oltre 6 mesi potranno accedere alle strutture ricettive e a tutte quelle attività in cui è richiesto il pass rafforzato eseguendo un tampone antigenico (validità 48 ore) o molecolare (validità 72 ore). Questa regola vale anche per coloro che sono stati vaccinati con vaccini non autorizzati o non riconosciuti come equivalenti in Italia.

Concessions for foreign tourists.
The foreign traveler in Italy who has completed the primary vaccine cycle over 6 months ago or has recovered from COVID for over 6 months, can still access services and accommodation that requires a “reinforced” Green Pass, by having a negative antigen COVID test done within 48 hours or a molecular COVID test done within 72 hours. This concessions also apply to tourists who have received vaccines that are not recognized or approved in Italy.
