Covid tests
Asked a question last year

Hello - I am wondering if anyone knows of reliable self-tests to purchase to travel back to the US? Or if pharmacies in Rome offer the right kind of testing that airlines (Lufthansa specifically) will accept for return to US? I am just concerned about having the right kind of test within the right time frame

Hello DB. I've heard from several travelers that the Abbot BinaxNOW Ag Card test121 has worked well for re-entry testing prior to departure for the US.

All the tests offered by pharmacies in Rome are eligible for travel because they are conducted by a health professional. The ones that aren't acceptable are home tests that aren't telemedicine proctored tests (such as the one above) because there's no official certificate or proof to validate the negative result.

Keep in mind another option you can take advantage of is testing directly at Rome's Fiumicino airport50. You can pre-register for the test online at this link33.
