Hi. We are travelling to Italy from Australia with our 5 children in July 2023. Should I pre book all our rail travel before we leave? Also is it worth buying the rail pass for 2 adults and kids aged 19, 15, 12, 10 and 8. We plan to use rail travel for our 3 week visit as our only mode of transport. Thank you!

Yes - for sure it will make sense to buy before you leave - prices are lowest and seat availability (important for a big group like yours) is better.

As to the rail pass question we will analyze your itinerary and figure out based on where you are planning to travel whether a pass or individual tickets makes the most sense.

FYI - the summer train schedules have not been released yet but will likely be soon (next 2-3 weeks) so best to plan now and book as soon as they are released. If a rail pass ends up being the best option we can book that any time.
