Train Travel
Asked a question last year

We are a family of 4 (with children aged 18 and 14) who are travelling to Italy between 3-11 August. Over the course of the stay we are plannknb to get the train from Milan Malpensa (via Milan Centrale) to Rome, then Florence, then Venice, then Peschiara del garda, then Milan Malpensa airport via Milan Centrale. Is it better value to buy a rail pass to cover all the trips or book individual train trips? Which site is best to use to make the bookings as well? Thanks.

Ciao Matt and welcome to our community! Hello,

Thank you for reaching out on Italiapass!

Railpasses work by charging you for the number of days of travel rather than for the cost of each trip. At the moment, Italiarail26 is not offering the sale and redemption of railpasses. You would have to purchase and redeem them on Eurail51. I would recommend comparing the cost of 4-5 days of travel for 4 people with rail passes against point-to-point trips on Italiarail26. You can make a mockup of your trips on our website to compare the costs and see what works best for you.

Keep in mind that when travelling on high speed trains, which you most likely will do when travelling from Milan - Rome, Rome - Florence, and Florence - Venice, you will have to pay for seat reservations even if you have a railpass.

If you have any other questions or concerns about your itinerary or bookings, feel free to reach out to us directly for more personal assistance at info@italiarail.com59 or 1 (877) 375-7245
