In Venice I really enjoyed the aperitivo tradition. Italy Magazine has an article on this called Spritz: The Aperitivo of the Veneto.ย 

A concoction of prosecco, soda or water, and a splash of Aperol or Campari liqueur, the flame-coloured aperitif โ€“ or aperitivo in Italian โ€“ has grown up a lot since its creation for the Hapsburg Austrians occupying Venice in the 1800s.ย 

When you're in Venice, don't miss a chance to partake in this relaxing social tradition - there are plenty of aperitivi drinks without alcohol as well - the important thing is the glorious people watching from an outdoor table and the beautiful sunset pre-dinner moment to chat and soak up the local atmosphere.
