I'm trying to figure out the best way to use the train system in Italy. My husband and I are spending 44 days in Italy and we plan to use the train to travel from town to town. In the middle of our trip, we are meeting my brother and his wife in Florence and then onto Cinque Terre before we go back on our own. Because this meet up in in the middle of our trip, we are planning on more south for the first half (Pisa, Cortona, Assisi, Ortona (where my grandmother was from), Rome - and then back to Florence to meet up with my brother. Then we leave Cinque Terre for Milan, Lake Como, Venice and then back to the Tuscany area for a week before we head home. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with trains. All I see is a 8 day pass for one month, which isn't long enough. I don't understand how this train system works.
