Hi,
I would like to introduce myself, Ritu Doctor from Mumbai, India. My husband, Vishal Doctor and I plan to visit Italy in April/May 2025 for 40 days. We are currently working on an itinerary to try and cover as much as possible. Will keep taking useful tips from all travelers here and posting questions as and when required.
I would like to know if the above passes include travel by bus/ ferry as well within Italy?
Also, we plan to cover North to South of Italy in our travel and have currently chosen the below towns as a base and then do day trips from there by public transport:
North - Bologna - visit Venice, Lake Como, Milan, foothills of the Dolomite
Central - Lucca - visit Siena, Pisa, Chianti, San Gimignano, Cinque Terre, Portofino
Central - Trastevere - visit Rome, Tivoli, Vatican
South - Sorrento - visit Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Catania, Pompeii, Capri
Could you advise whether these bases are transportation hubs and whether we could take trains to travel around to the places mentioned above? We would be traveling on a budget so would like to stay in towns instead of the main cities.
Any suggestions on the itinerary are also welcome!
Thanks in advance
